PUNJAB PMT NOTIFICATION & EXAMINATION DETAILS

Punjab Medical Entrance Test (PMET) is an Entrance examination conducted each year for admission to various bachelor medical courses which are MBBS, BDS, BAMS and BHMS in the entire medical, dental, Ayurvedic/ Homoeopathic Institutes across Punjab. Punjab Medical Entrance Test is conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot on behalf of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar.
There are about 20 medical/dental colleges in Punjab for which admission is done through Punjab Medical Entrance Test. In all these colleges 85% seats are reserved for Punjab candidates and 15% seats for Outside Punjab candidates. A large number of candidates appear for PMET every year and the competition is quite tough so candidates have to really work very hard to get admission through PMET.
Eligibility criteria:
A candidate should be a bonafide resident of Punjab with Punjab domicile. A candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with atleast 50% marks (40% for SC/BC) in all these subjects. Also a candidate should have passed in English as well. Those who are appearing for class 12th exams in 2011 can also apply.
Also a candidate should have attained the age of 17 years before 31st December, 2011. The candidate’s state of mind should be completely fit and that he or she will suffer no complication, particularly health wise at the time of admission.
The candidates that are in the first year of the Bachelor level degree of graduation can also apply for this Entrance Test provided that they are under the specific age limit concerned with this test. Even candidates that have passed their Bachelor Level degree from any recognized Indian University can apply for this exam, provided he or she is a resident of the state and that they also fall under the specific age limit. However these respective candidates have to attain a Study all the compulsory Subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Zoology or Botany.
Availability of Application forms for Punjab MET 2011:
The forms for PMET 2011 are expected to be available by May in Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot and also from selected Canara Bank Branches. The form can also be obtained by post from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot by sending a Demand Draft along with the request for form.
The candidates that want to send the application form through post have to provide a signature of the candidate in the back side of the Demand Draft and should also clearly mention the registration number at the top of the requisite letter.

Availability of Application Forms: First week of May, 2011
Last Date for receipt of completed application forms: Last week of May, 2011
Pattern of Examination:
The paper will be of 150 minutes duration consisting of 200 multiple choice questions from the following subjects:.
Physics-50 questions
Chemistry-50 questions
Biology-100 questions
For every correct answer a candidate will get 4 marks and for every incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted.
Syllabus:
The syllabus for the above exam is same as that for the Higher Secondary level in accordance with the Punjab Education Board. The syllabus covers the subject of Physics, Biology, and Chemistry along with English.
